When we warn others we usually use anger or project ourselves with exaggerated force. This makes us safe yet it distances us from others.
My aim was to illustrate the defensive heart as we warn others and the subsequent emotional divide it might foster. The model for this painting is Kevin, a dear spiritual friend, who posed for an expressive session in Bristol. I recorded the pose and expression using videography, then applied digital acrylics and inks on my dependable laptop to harmonize traditional and modern elements in this painting.
