We all feel the need to protect ourselves in dangerous situations. Often we find ourselves in a daily environment, such as a workplace, that's unhealthy for us and we need to protect ourselves emotionally and spiritually.
I aimed to depict the self-preservation in protecting ourselves and the emotional barrier it constructs. For this painting, James, a close and kind spiritual friend, posed in a playful manner during an evening session in Bristol. I employed videography to document the pose and expression and merged contemporary and classical elements with digital acrylics and inks on my dependable laptop in this artwork.
