Sometimes, we judge other people. Or fear being judged ourselves. When we judge we often reflect our own Jungian shadow and project that onto others. It's is a cold and distancing act.
My objective was to reflect the critical eye of judging others and the alienation it breeds in our hearts. The model for this piece is James, a dear and spiritually close friend, who enjoyed a playful evening posing session in Bristol. I captured the pose and expression using videography, then blended traditional and modern elements with digital acrylics and inks on my faithful laptop in this painting.
