It's a pretty important skill to be able to enjoy most things. Enjoyment requires the suspension of judgment, cynicism and resentment, so I feel it clears the emotional palette.
I aimed to depict both the sheer pleasure of enjoying life and the fulfilment it brings to our everyday moments. The model for this work is my close spiritual friend, Kevin, who agreed to pose for an expressive sitting in Bristol. I captured the pose and expression using videography, then applied digital acrylics and inks on my reliable laptop to harmonize modern and classical styles in this painting.
