Buddhism and Hinduism embrace the chakras and the sense of divinity connecting with us through the tops of our heads. I simply love this idea, and I use it in my meditation, prayer, breathwork and often when walking or listening to music.
I aimed to express both the harmonious union of divinity and self and the enlightenment it brings to our journey. The model in this piece is Kevin, a wonderful spiritual friend, whom I painted during a session in Bristol. I captured the pose and expression through videography, then applied digital acrylics and inks on my trusty laptop to harmonize contemporary and traditional styles in this painting.
